The former music teacher at Loreto Junior School in Curepipe posted bail of 70,000 rupees and signed an acknowledgment of debt of 300,000 rupees at the Curepipe court on Tuesday. Frédéric Pavaday was released after more than two months of detention.

Strict conditions were imposed on him: he must report to the police station between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., inform the authorities of his movements, and he is strictly prohibited from contacting the alleged victims or witnesses, directly or indirectly. On the state of the investigation, Detective Inspector Ramburn, heard at the bar, indicated that the case is no longer at a preliminary stage.

Several statements have already been taken, including those of the alleged victims. A Judge's Order was also obtained to access the accused's communications records with telephone operators. Reconstitution exercises were also carried out, although certain aspects remain to be completed. The representative of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Me Nadjiyya Dauhoo, did not oppose the release, subject to these conditions.

Frédéric Pavaday retained the services of Mes Sacheen Boodhoo and Sanjeev Teeluckdharry. He disputes the allegations made against him. He admits to having been in contact with one of the alleged victims, but denies any sexual relationship with a minor.

The resident of Riche-Terre is now the subject of three separate statements, all from former students of the Loreto Junior School in Curepipe. The first complaint dates back to February 2026: the teacher was arrested on February 23 after accusations of touching and inappropriate comments about a student who was 12 years old at the time of the facts. In March, a second “victim” came forward and denounced acts of “child grooming”. She says she was 6 years old when the teacher established a climate of trust through affirming words before moving on to touching in the music room. More recently, a young woman formally identified the 50-year-old man as her attacker for acts of sexual touching and sending indecent messages, which occurred when she was aged 9 and 10 - approximately 18 years ago.
