A 27-year-old inmate, Jeff Axel Perrine, was found lifeless on Friday, May 1 at the Beau-Bassin Central Prison.
According to initial information, the young man was discovered sitting on his bed inside his cell. His body was then transported to the morgue to determine the exact causes of death.
The autopsy concluded that there was cerebral and pulmonary edema. At this stage, no trace of malicious act has been noted, according to the authorities.
However, on the family side, dismay dominates. On social networks, relatives express their incomprehension and evoke gray areas surrounding the circumstances of this death. They therefore call for a thorough investigation in order to establish the whole truth.
An investigation is underway.
