“It is not a page nor a chapter, but a book which has closed at the level of the political history of Mauritius”: these are the terms that Patrick Belcourt reacted to the resignation of Paul Bérenger, Joanna Bérenger and Chetan Baboolall from the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM).

“Nou kontan ou nou pa kontan, Paul Bérenger, boug la li enn institution an li mem. We cannot dissociate Paul Bérenger from the MMM nor dissociate the MMM from Paul Bérenger. (…) I think it must be very, very hard for him to make such a decision,” declared the leader of En Avant Moris.

Remember that Paul Bérenger, Joanna Bérenger and Chetan Baboolall submitted their resignations from the MMM this Monday, April 13. A meeting took place between the three concerned at the home of Paul Bérenger, following the decision of the Assembly of Delegates on Saturday to decide in favor of maintaining the party within the government.
