The Minister of Agro-industry and the Blue Economy delivered a very positive assessment of the budget document, highlighting his parliamentary experience. “I have been in Parliament since 1987 and I can say that it is a responsible and forward-thinking Budget which protects those in the middle class,” he declares. He dwells on measures relating to pensions and reforms of the retirement system. “Already regarding the pension, 90% of people will have to benefit from the BRP. There are also reforms to the National Pension Fund. This is what we call social justice. The Prime Minister said it: responsibility, efficiency and social justice. This is important to note,” he suggests. On the agricultural side, he explained that the government is “laying the foundations to produce more”, thanks in particular to investments in irrigation, the development of the non-sugar sector and various support measures. He also highlighted the potential of the blue economy: “We have a lot to do, especially in terms of research and development. The potential is enormous.”
