A 27-year-old resident of Melrose filed a complaint at the Camp-de-Masque police station on Tuesday July 28, claiming to have been the victim of an attack during a birthday party organized on the evening of Saturday July 25, in Camp-de-Masque.
According to his statement, he went to the house of a 28-year-old friend, residing in Camp-de-Masque, where there were already three other men, aged 27 to 28, from Providence, Mont-Ida and Melrose.
At one point, he was allegedly taken to a room where an argument broke out over an investment he made last year. He claims to have been attacked with a crowbar before being forced to provide the access codes to his banking application. A sum of Rs 17,000 would have been transferred from his account to that of the organizer of the party.
The complainant also claims that Rs 200, his mobile phone and his car keys were stolen from him. He also claims that a video of him, in which he was forced to admit to an alleged fraud, was recorded under threat.
He indicates that he was able to leave the premises on the night of Sunday July 26, around 1:15 a.m. Wounded in the neck and lips, he received treatment at the Sir Anerood Jugnauth hospital, Flacq. A police investigation is underway.
