A series of thefts targeting parked vehicles was solved by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Rose-Hill, with the arrest of a suspect aged 28, unemployed and of no fixed address. This arrest on Sunday follows several complaints recorded between the end of March and mid-April in different regions, notably in Trianon, Ãbéne and along the Nationale.â¨Subjected to close interrogation, the young man confessed concerning several cases of break-ins. A reconstruction of the facts was organized by investigators during the weekend, without however allowing the recovery of the stolen items. He is currently detained at the Terre-Rouge police station, while the investigation continues. The events date back to Wednesday March 25, when a first theft was reported in a parking lot located in Trianon. The vehicle of a 29-year-old foreman was targeted after the rear triangular window was broken and an Orix brand amplifier as well as a sum of Rs 2,300 were stolen. The whole thing is estimated at Rs 12,000.â¨The same day, a 33-year-old man is the victim of a similar theft. His car, parked in a bushy area along the highway near Teck dâOr, was broken into. The criminal took a Pioneer screen and an amplifier of the same brand, for an estimated value of Rs 42,000. On April 1, a bank employee parked her vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center in Trianon. When she returned, she noticed that the rear window had been broken. A black umbrella and a blue and black shopping bag, worth Rs 4,000, were taken away. More recently, on April 14, a 27-year-old listener was targeted while his vehicle was parked in a company parking lot at Ebony. Alerted by the activation of the alarm, he discovers that a rear window has been damaged. A jumper cable as well as a sum of Rs 500 were stolen. According to investigators, these cases present an identical operating mode where the vehicles are spotted in parking areas, often during the day, then a rear side window is broken to quickly access the passenger compartment and steal the objects left inside. The arrest of the suspect thus makes it possible to make the link between several complaints that have remained unresolved until then. The police are continuing their investigations in order to determine the exact extent of the crimes and to identify possible accomplices in this network.
