It was around 2 a.m. that Pravind Jugnauth was finally authorized to leave the premises of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), after being heard as part of the investigation into the award, in 2023, of an oil contract estimated at Rs 30 billion to the Mercantile and Maritime Group.
At the end of this hearing, conducted under warning, the former Prime Minister indicated to the press that the investigation was still ongoing.
“Zordi mo ankor pli serin,” he said in response to a question from journalists, adding that he felt even more serene after having read the numerous questions from FCC investigators.
The MSM leader arrived at the FCC premises around 3 p.m., accompanied by his lawyer, Me Raouf Gulbul.
The former Attorney General, Maneesh Gobin, was also heard this Monday in connection with this case. He was allowed to leave the premises at the end of his hearing, after having spent more than seven hours in the FCC premises.
