Joanna Bérenger reacted to her resignation from the MMM. She speaks of a “difficult but necessary” choice. She claims to be leaving the party “with dignity”, alongside Paul Bérenger and Chetan Baboolall.
She confides that her sadness is all the greater because she “grew and developed her political consciousness” within the MMM. For the former Junior Minister for the Environment, remaining in government only makes sense if real changes are made and promises are respected.
“You can choose to choose a government that does not matter at all if it is not guaranteed,” she said.
She also deplores the remarks made against Paul Bérenger during the assembly of delegates on Saturday April 11, describing them as “hurtful towards someone who devoted 50 years of his life to the party”. She also considers that this meeting was held in questionable conditions.
However, she insists: “Nou pe ale san okenn laenn, me avek lizidite. »
The decision to leave, she says, is the culmination of a conviction that has become irreversible, given the lack of reaction to the alerts launched over the last six months. She also judges that the decisions taken during the assembly do not align with the values of the MMM.
“I cannot accept that the promises made to our constituents become secondary,” adds Joanna Bérenger.
As a reminder, Paul Bérenger, Joanna Bérenger and MP Chetan Baboolall submitted their letter of resignation to the general secretary of the MMM this Monday.
