â A 27-year-old motorcyclist in critical condition in the ICU of SSRN hospital

A road accident occurred Saturday morning at an intersection in Solitude, leaving a motorcyclist in critical condition. The incident involves a driver well known in the horse racing community. This is jockey Gulshan Rye Joorawon (46 years old), whose responsibility is today at the center of the investigation.

According to the information collected, the jockey, residing in Grand-Baie, was driving a Ford rental vehicle along the Solitude bypass, towards Balaclava. Arriving at the intersection regulated by traffic lights near UnÂkorvil, he apparently ignored a red light and continued on his way, even though the cross traffic already had a green light.

At this precise moment, a motorcycle, piloted by a 27-year-old aluminum worker, emerging from Arsenal in the direction of Triolet, entered the intersection. Despite an attempt to avoid by deviating to the right, the collision could not be avoided. The motorcycle violently hit the side door of the Contract Van.

The violence of the impact was such that the motorcyclist was thrown to the ground. He suffered serious head injuries and suffered profuse blood loss. SAMU emergency services, quickly dispatched to the scene, took care of the victim before transporting him urgently to the SSRN hospital. The motorcyclist's condition is considered critical. This resident of Terre-Rouge in respiratory distress was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, images from Safe City Network cameras confirm that the vehicle driven by the jockey did not stop at the red light, leading to the collision.

If the breathalyzer test carried out on Rye Joorawon was negative, no test could be carried out on the motorcyclist due to his condition, on medical recommendation.

This accident raises serious questions about compliance with the highway code. For the moment, the jockey has been authorized to leave the police premises after his hearing, while the investigation continues.
