A major police operation, carried out during the night from Saturday to Sunday at the Tribeca Mall, led to the arrest of a young driver (21 years old) in possession of a bladed weapon, in a context of reinforced fight against disruptive night gatherings. For several weeks, the authorities have been receiving recurring complaints concerning nuisances linked to informal gatherings of drivers, commonly called Car Meets, organized in the shopping center parking lot. Excessive noise, loud music and risky behavior were among the main complaints reported by the public. Faced with this situation, a coordinated operation was deployed between 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m., mobilizing several specialized units, including Road Safety Unit (RSU), the Divisional Support Unit (DSU), the Emergency Response Service (ERS), the Special Mobile Force (SMF) as well as the Environmental Police. The objective was to prevent road offenses, limit noise pollution and deter illegal gatherings. In total, 46 vehicles were checked during this intervention. Nine traffic violations were noted. But it is above all a particular case which caught the attention of the police. A police officer intercepted a car broadcasting music at high volume. The driver, a 21-year-old resident of Goodlands, was unable to produce his driver's license at the scene. Suspected of being under the influence of narcotics, he was taken to the Rose-Hill police station for tests. During a search carried out with his consent in the police station, the police discovered a knife hidden under the seat rear of the vehicle. The weapon measured 43 centimeters, including a 32 centimeter blade. Questioned about the presence of this object, the suspect declared "mo served sa pou koup koko." In the meantime, the Drug Test carried out on him turned out to be positive, and a blood sample was taken. realized.
