The Minister of the Environment, Rajesh Bhagwan, reacted to the declaration of the former Junior Minister for the Environment, Joanna Bérenger, who affirmed earlier this Monday, May 4 that the situation on Tamarin beach was predictable and that her alerts had not been taken into account: “Kan koze minis pa ekoute oubien li deklar pa tander. »
In a statement to Radio Plus, the minister affirmed that at no time and on no file had Joanna Bérenger drawn attention to the problem of erosion nor to that of Mare-Chicose. He also indicated that he was in contact with the inhabitants of Tamarin.
“There’s no one who slept at night,” he said.
Remember that Tamarin beach is today partially threatened with disappearance due to severe coastal erosion, triggered four months ago following human error. An excavator driver intervened about ten meters from the trees, instead of the 150 meters required in the center of the mouth.
