The Labourdonnais Tennis Open will make its grand return on Saturday May 9, 2026, with more than 200 participants expected for one of the major events on the Mauritian tennis calendar. Organized by the Racket Sports section of the Labourdonnais Sports Club (LSC), the tournament has established itself, over the years, as a local reference, bringing together experienced players, young talents and tennis enthusiasts.
Indeed, for more than twenty years, the competition has offered players the opportunity to compete in a setting that is both demanding and friendly. It regularly attracts recognized figures of Mauritian tennis, such as Zara Lennon, Tejaswini Jessoo and Daniel Bazu, while highlighting a new generation of promising players, like Alexandre Thevenet.
In a context where tennis continues its development in Mauritius, notably supported by the Mauritius Tennis Federation (FMT), the tournament is part of a broader dynamic of promotion of the discipline. Through its infrastructures and its activities (tennis, padel, squash), the Labourdonnais Sports Club develops the practice and the emergence of new talents.
Open to several categories, the Labourdonnais Tennis Open pursues a clear objective: to promote and develop tennis in Mauritius, at all levels. “Beyond the competition, it is also about arousing the interest of young people and girls in racket sports, and encouraging access to the practice. ", underlines Mickaël Gosch, Director of the Racket Sports section of the LSC.
On the program for this 2026 edition: matches, events and partner experiences, as well as several activities intended for the public, including the One Point Challenge or the Wheel of Fortune, with prizes and cash prizes at stake. “The Labourdonnais Tennis Open is above all a tennis festival. Of course, competition is at the heart of the event, but we also want to preserve a friendly, family atmosphere accessible to all, faithful to the values of the club,” adds Mickaël Gosch.
A real highlight of the local sporting calendar, the Labourdonnais Tennis Open asserts itself as an unmissable event for tennis fans in Mauritius.
