As part of the education system reform project, several people, including student representatives, teachers and professors, met this morning at the Paul Octave Wiehe auditorium, Réduit, to decide on the conditions of admission to colleges.
Vassan Carooppunnen, who represents Swami Vivekananda SSS of Souillac, insisted on the importance of equality and the interests of children: “In complete equality, parents have a right. At the end of the day, the best interests of the children must come first. Education must be given equitably to all children. »
According to him, the creation of a federation could bring together all parties, guarantee this equality and create a versatile system capable of solving the problems of Mauritian children in general.
For Saffiyah Edoo, who represents Dr Régis Chaperon SSS, the ministerial proposal concerning grading is encouraging for parents. However, she stressed the need to raise academic standards: “I saw an extraordinary drop in standards. We must instill in children the value of work from a young age, not wait until they are 16. Regardless of the school, the effort must come from the children with the support of the parents. »Video: Annick Daniella Rivet
