A heavy rain watch is in effect in Mauritius and will remain valid until 7 p.m. this evening. Active clouds evolving near the island will influence the local weather at times, according to the bulletin from the Vacoas weather station issued this Tuesday, April 28.

It will be cloudy this morning and in the afternoon, with showers. These will be moderate to locally strong, accompanied by thunderstorms. Temporary accumulations of water are likely in flood-prone areas.

The maximum temperature will vary between 25 and 27°C on the central plateau and between 29 and 31°C in the coastal regions. Moderate to locally heavy showers are still expected in the evening. The sky will be partly overcast to sometimes cloudy thereafter, with occasional moderate showers, especially on the eastern half of the island and on the heights.

The minimum temperature will be between 20 and 22°C on the central plateau and between 24 and 26°C on the coast. The wind will blow from the east-northeast at around 20 km/h.

The sea will be rough beyond the reefs, with waves of around 2 meters.

The public is advised:

- to stay sheltered and avoid the plains, hikes, sea trips, as well as not taking shelter under trees during storms;

- avoid areas subject to accumulation of water;

- to be very careful on the roads due to reduced visibility due to showers and fog.
