The Youth Football Initiative kicks off this weekend. The 2026 edition will take place in Port-Louis, with 18 teams under 15 from different districts of the capital. The event brought together actors committed to youth and sport, notably the Lord Mayor Aslam Hosenally, Anwar Elahee, from the Youth Development Committee of the Mauritius Football Association (MFA), Vijayeta Jhurry, from the NGO Partaz Enn Sourire, and Pamela Bhuruth, from CIM Finance. Anwar Elahee indicated for his part that Port-Louis is the 5th region where the Youth Football Initiative will take place. “We noticed that there is a lot of hidden talent among young people. This is why we are turning to the regions and neighborhoods to target these talents and channel them into the training circuit. »The competition takes place on April 25 and 26 at the St-François Xavier stadium, in Port-Louis. As a prelude to this tournament, a march against drugs will take place this Saturday morning, with a departure planned from Square Gaddafi, in Plaine-Verte.
