Middle distance specialist, Rachel Klopfenstein recently joined Club M and now represents Mauritius in international competitions. As part of this partnership, Alteo will take charge of the athlete's training periods during the year, in order to allow them to continue their progress in the best possible conditions.

Born in Mauritius, Rachel Klopfenstein spent her childhood on the island before moving to Switzerland, and wore the colors of this country for a long time. She has an impressive track record: 12 national selections, a European final, two participations in the Olympic Games, including a notable semi-final at Paris 2024, as well as three participations in the Diamond League, one of the most prestigious circuits in world athletics. For several weeks now, she has also held the national records for Mauritius in the 400m and 800m, her favorite distances.

A return to basics

For Rachel Klopfenstein, this new stage is above all linked to her deep attachment to Maurice. Its partnership with Alteo is part of this same dynamic. “I am very happy to announce that Alteo officially becomes my main partner. This group committed to sustainable development in Mauritius plays a key role through its activities in cane production, land development, renewable energies as well as in several initiatives geared towards innovation and the development of the country. This partnership represents an important step in my journey, and I am deeply grateful for this valuable support in achieving my future goals. I sincerely thank the Alteo team for believing in my project and in me from the very first day,” explains the athlete.

The middle-distance specialist's 2026 calendar is already busy, with two very high-level competitions in 800 meters scheduled for this month. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday June 16, she will be at the Gold Meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic, then will go to the Gold Meeting in Hengelo, the Netherlands, which will take place on Sunday June 21.  The athlete is looking forward to representing Mauritius on the international stage and hopes to be able to count on the support of the Mauritian public during these major events.

“Rachel's choice to represent Maurice is a strong moment. His journey speaks of talent, of course, but also of discipline, courage and attachment to his roots. At Alteo, we wanted to support him because our values correspond to his and we believe that high-level sport cannot be built alone. It requires a solid environment, trust and concrete means. Supporting Rachel means supporting an athlete who carries the colors of Maurice high, but also an example of perseverance for young people and for all those who believe that a journey can be successful.
