B1-M1 Link Road: The Tribeca/Port-Louis route, without going through Réduit…

The development work on the interchange directly linking the Tribeca shopping center in Trianon to the M1 motorway to head towards Port-Louis, avoiding the detour via Réduit – via the construction of a roundabout and a ramp leading motorists below - come to an end at Bank Street in Ebony. It is part of the B1-M1 Link Road project, estimated at Rs 355 million, with the aim of streamlining traffic on the B1 road and facilitating access to the St Pierre Bypass, the Bône Link Road and the Tribeca Mall shopping center. The alternative exit from Cybercité dâdÃbène towards the M1 motorway towards Port-Louis has already been completed.

The project is being carried out by Transinvest Construction Ltd, in collaboration with GIBB Engineering, under the supervision of the RDA. Until now, vehicles had to use Réduit as a crossing point to access the M1 motorway. With this new road development, motorists leaving Ébène or the Tribeca shopping center to head towards Port-Louis or the North will bypass the very busy Réduit area, if they want. As soon as the project is completed, the new roundabout and the slip road built a few meters from the Maeva Tower, Bank Street, will constitute the direct access route to the M1 motorway.

The unblocked interchange project comes in addition to the investments already made by Tribeca, in particular the construction, financed by Hermes Properties and Landscope Mauritius, of the bridge linking the Cybercity d'ébène to the Technopole, as well as various developments around of the road network managed by Landscope Mauritius. “Currently, users of the Tribeca shopping center wishing to reach the capital must take a detour via Ébène and Réduit, in order to reach the M1 motorway. A situation which has often been denounced as an obstacle to commercial development in the area. Tribeca will finally have direct access to the M1 motorway towards Port-Louis. A request almost six years old, which remained pending until December 2024, the date on which the new government gave the green light to the construction of the interchange,” confides Cyril How Kin Sang, CEO of Hermes Properties Ltd, the developer of Tribeca.

Overall, the project responds to an urgent need: to ease road traffic congestion in Ebéne, an area with a high density of economic and technological activities. By promoting better connectivity between the business center and major roads, the B1-M1 Link Road will significantly reduce travel times during peak hours, while improving quality
