Curepipe: A retiree intercepted with 95 unpaid items

A retiree (68 years old) is suspected of having tried to leave a Curepipe supermarket with 95 unpaid items, with a total value of Rs 9,500. The facts occurred on Tuesday. A cashier (19 years old) noticed that the customer was slipping several products directly into her bag, placed at her feet, instead of placing them on the checkout belt.

After checking the video surveillance images, store managers found that many items had not been paid for. The sixty-year-old was taken to the administrative office, where the discrepancies between her receipt and the goods were confirmed. The unpaid products were handed over to the police. She was released on parole on condition that she appear at the Curepipe court for her indictment.
