“They have been civilly married since last year,” confides Rajen Munisamy, the father of Neelam Munisamy, arrested for the murder of her husband, Fabrino Cupidon. He returned to the last moments shared with his daughter and son-in-law last night, before the tragedy occurred. Watch his testimony in the attached video.
As a reminder, Fabrino Cupidon, aged 38, was found lifeless at his home in Rotin No 1, in La Source, in Quatre-Bornes, on the evening of Thursday June 4. The police attended the scene following a request. When police arrived, they discovered the victim lying on the ground. Traces of blood were found inside the house, in front of the residence as well as in the alley leading to the main road. We are told that the victim is of Rodriguan origin and that his family is not in Mauritius. His body is still in the morgue.
At this stage of the investigation, the criminal trail is favored.
The autopsy, performed this morning by forensic pathologist Shaila Jankee Prasad, attributed the death of Fabrino Cupidon to an injury caused by a stab wound to the thigh.
As part of the investigation, his wife, Neelam Munisamy, aged 31, was arrested by CID investigators from CID Quatre-Bornes. During her interrogation, she allegedly stated that an argument had broken out between her and her companion and that the latter was injured during the altercation.
Investigators also carried out several searches on the suspect's indications. A knife, possibly linked to the case, was found this morning in a gutter by elements of the Scene of Crime Office (SOCO). According to the first elements of the investigation, the suspect indicated to the police the place where she got rid of the alleged weapon after the incident.
She then appeared before the Rose-Hill court on a provisional charge of murder before being taken back to a police cell.
