Following the increase in excise duty announced by the government in the 2026-2027 budgetary year, several products in the tobacco portfolio have seen their retail prices increased with immediate effect.
In a press release to the public, the distributor concerned confirmed the immediate application of the new prices, VAT included.
Among the brands concerned are Maryland, King, Elixyr and Clubmaster.
The new prices communicated are as follows:
* Maryland Red: Rs 215* Maryland Classic: Rs 215* King Red: Rs 215* Elixyr Blue: Rs 220* King Gold: Rs 220* Clubmaster Cigarillos: Rs 760
Note that Maryland and Elixyr products are manufactured in Luxembourg, King cigarettes in Bulgaria, while Clubmaster Cigarillos come from Germany.
This increase comes in the wake of new tax measures announced in the 2026-2027 Budget, where the government increased taxation on several products considered harmful to health, notably tobacco.
