Drug: A patient (66 years old) in possession of nine gandia joints

Hospitalized since July 22 for a lung infection, a retiree (66 years old) was caught in possession of cannabis while he was in a room at the SSRN hospital. The police discovered on him several homemade cigarettes and sachets containing a substance suspected of being gandia.

The intervention took place on Thursday, after a police officer posted as a security guard for a hospitalized detainee, reported to his colleagues the presence of the sixty-year-old, suspected of possessing drugs. The police took this resident of Triolet to a remote location in order to carry out a body search.

From the left front pocket of his shirt, they grabbed a pack of cigarettes. Inside were nine hand-rolled cigarettes containing a mixture of tobacco and plant material suspected of being cannabis, as well as nine cellophane bags containing the same substance. However, a search carried out at his home, with his consent, did not reveal any other illicit substances.

The 18 seized items were handed over to the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit, where they were weighed. The product suspected of being cannabis has a total weight of 2.41 grams, for an estimated street value of Rs 2,700. Placed under seal, the samples will be submitted for analysis by the Forensic Science Laboratory. The sixty-year-old was placed in police custody and is under investigation for possession of cannabis.
