A road accident involving a school van and a car occurred Monday afternoon on the Royal Road in Eau-Coulée, near a gas station. According to the first elements of the police investigation, the car was coming out of a secondary street towards the main road when it collided with the school van which was traveling towards the Sainte-Hélène church.
Under the violence of the shock, the vehicle deviated from its trajectory before hitting a 13-year-old girl, a student at a college in Curepipe, who was standing as a pedestrian on the side of the road. A passenger in the van, a 15-year-old boy attending a school in the region, was also injured during the impact.
The two victims were transported by police to Victoria Hospital where they were placed under observation. Surveys were carried out on the scene in the presence of the two drivers. The blood alcohol tests carried out on them turned out to be negative. Images from Safe City cameras could help investigators establish the exact circumstances of the accident.
