A 23-year-old woman was arrested after abandoning her 5-year-old son in Flic-en-Flac.
The child was found alone near a restaurant during the night from Thursday to Friday before being taken to the police station by passers-by.
To investigators, the boy explained that his mother left him at their home to go to a dance party. Not seeing her return, he left the house.
Found a few hours later, the young woman appeared before the Rivière-Noire District Court.
She was granted conditional release on bail of Rs 5,000. However, as she is unable to pay it, she remains in detention.
The child was admitted to Victoria Hospital.
