The images had circulated widely on social networks. It showed a young man making obscene gestures towards the occupants of a car in a parking lot on the Flic-en-Flac beach.
The suspect, Donovan Brandon Melisse, 18, living in Cité La Baie, Baie-du-Tombeau, was identified and then arrested by the police.
On Thursday, after being sentenced to fines in two theft cases before the Pamplemousses court, he was arrested by the Flic-en-Flac police officers for the offense of the Gross Indecent Act in Public.
During his interrogation by Sergeants Seenundun and Constable Teelokee, the young man confessed. He claimed not to have been fully aware of his actions, maintaining that he was under the influence of synthetic drugs at the time.
Brought before the Bambous court this Friday, Donovan Brandon Melisse was sentenced to two weeks in prison.
