Interreligious group: Flic-en-Flac organizes a workshop for parents facing the scourges

The Flic-en-Flac interreligious group organized a workshop bringing together around fifty parents from Flic-en-Flac, Bambous and Beaux-Songes. The main objective is to prioritize parenting skills in light of the evolution of the family unit and the many challenges it faces today. It is not a question of reproducing the family model of the past, but of supporting parents in the development of new skills and educational approaches adapted to contemporary realities, while preserving the essential values ​​which promote the development of children and family cohesion.

Robert Hungley, vice-president of the republic, present on this occasion, testified to the importance given to the fundamental role of parents in building a harmonious society. Resource people also included Ragini Runghen, director of Lakaz A, as well as Karen Ladouceur-Guidt. Thanks to their expertise, they led discussions on the transformations of the family, the emotional needs of children, the challenges linked to digital technologies and social networks, as well as the importance of caring communication and adapted supervision.

The discussions allowed parents to reflect on their role in a constantly evolving social context. The participants emphasized that beyond parental authority, it is essential to develop a relationship based on dialogue, trust, listening, mutual respect and example. They also insisted on the need to equip parents with concrete tools allowing them to support their children in the face of the growing influences of the digital world, artificial intelligence, addictions, violence, misinformation and social pressures.

For his part, the vice-president of the republic welcomed this community initiative which places parents at the heart of the education and protection of children. He encouraged the organizers to continue this type of action, which contributes to the strengthening of families and, consequently, to the development of a more united, responsible and resilient society.

For his part, Father Sylvio Lodoïska, priest of the Saint-Sauveur-Saint Marc parish community, who actively participated in the sharing between these fifty parents of students, relayed during the five celebrations of the Eucharist of the weekend, including mass in English on Sunday afternoon at Saint Marc, the fallout from the findings made by the participants on the subject of the difficult context "with a multiplicity of voices and of all kinds coming from social networks", urging parents in general to be systematically involved alongside their children to support them in their choices, discerning between "the wheat and the chaff", the text of the day.
