The former relationship manager at the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), Deepshikha Gowreesunker, was summoned again by the Anti Money Laundering Unit of the Central CID this Friday. She was allowed to leave after her hearing.

She was accompanied by Mes Rouben Mooroongapillay and Natasha Behary Panray.

At the same time, Deepshikha Gowreesunker filed an application before the Supreme Court on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She seeks the urgent intervention of the judge in chambers so that the police investigation concerning her be entrusted to a unit other than the Anti Money Laundering Unit (AML) of the Central CID. She accuses this unit of being “biased” and “not independent” towards her. A decision is awaited.

His motion is directed in particular against the Commissioner of Police (CP), the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Balmick Dussoye as well as the State.

At the heart of this approach: the so-called “Menlo Park” affair, relating to a loan granted by the Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC) to the company Menlo Park Ltd. Deepshikha Gowreesunker claims to have been arrested on May 20, 2025, after a search of her home. She was then detained before being provisionally charged with “perversion of the course of justice” and released on bail the following day.

She claims to have “fully cooperated” with the police, while denouncing the behavior of ASP Balmick Dussoye, whom she accuses of having acted with “bias” against her.

The complainant also mentions the existence of WhatsApp messages attributed to Rama Sithanen, former governor of the Bank of Mauritius, which would indicate a desire to initiate an investigation against him. According to her, these exchanges suggest “external influence” on the investigation process.

Deepshikha Gowreesunker also denounces “illegal” detention on April 15, 2026, claiming to have been held for several hours without being formally arrested, and mentions “threats” as well as a refusal to record her version of the facts.
