The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) has identified, to date, 35 alleged victims in the investigation targeting Hemraj Manohur. Fifteen of them have already been heard by investigators.
These elements were communicated this Thursday before the Port-Louis court by Senior Investigator Chundoo during the appearance of the sixty-year-old.
According to the Senior Investigator, several people have come forward to the FCC since the matter was publicized on social media. She also indicated that disclosure orders have already been obtained and that other requests of the same type will be made as part of the investigations.
Still according to the FCC, the alleged damage would amount to approximately Rs 40 million. However, the investigation is expected to continue for more than two weeks.
The case was postponed until June 18, 2026 for an update on the progress of the investigations.
Hemraj Manohur, 64, resident of Vacoas, was arrested on June 3, 2026. He is the subject of two provisional charges of money laundering, which he contests. The FCC maintains its opposition to his release on bail.
The sixty-year-old is represented by Mr. Numresh Dreepaul. The FCC is represented by Me Lovendra Nulliah.
