Jonathan Koo Yan, 40, was found dead in a chase in Midlands on Thursday evening. According to the first elements of the investigation, his body was lying in a pool of blood and had a gunshot wound to the chest. He was discovered near an all-terrain vehicle whose doors were open.
Alerted, police officers, investigators from the Curepipe CID as well as forensic and ballistics specialists went to the site to carry out the first findings. The police are still on the scene.
According to information gathered, the victim had gone to the estate earlier in the day. At the end of the afternoon, she told other people present that she had heard two explosions inside the property. She then gave no further sign of life.
Relatives went to the scene and discovered the man unresponsive before alerting the police.
Investigators seized several items. A hunting weapon was notably found in the vehicle, as well as an empty cartridge case and an intact cartridge. A second weapon, which allegedly belonged to the victim, remains unfound.
The body was transported to the morgue where an autopsy is to be carried out this Friday. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
