Business Mauritius takes a new step in its commitment to small and medium-sized businesses. This month, the employers' federation launched the first edition of The Meridian, a new series of meetings aimed at strengthening links, exchanges and partnerships between its members, with a particular emphasis on the inclusion of SMEs.

Designed as a platform for dialogue, connection and formulation, The Meridian aims to offer SME members of Business Mauritius a structured space to share their perspectives, make their priorities heard and contribute more fully to national economic conversations.

“This initiative is part of the unifying mission of Business Mauritius, which today brings together a community of companies of diverse sizes, sectors and realities. With SMEs representing a significant part of this member base, The Meridian aims to better integrate their voice into the discussions carried out by the organization, while promoting stronger links between SMEs, large companies, institutions and key players in the economic ecosystem,” indicates Business Mauritius.

The first edition aimed to offer participants a space for discussion on the main challenges facing SMEs. Discussions also focused on the broader issues facing businesses in an economic environment marked by uncertainty, volatility and increasing cost pressures.

For Business Mauritius, The Meridian marks an important step in the desire to create more targeted and inclusive spaces within the business community. “It is a question of fully recognizing the role of SMEs in the Mauritian economy, not only as actors of growth, employment and innovation, but also as essential voices in the construction of the country's economic policies and priorities,” underlines the federation.

Through this new series, Business Mauritius wishes to strengthen the bridges between SMEs and large companies, while encouraging collaborations within its membership. The federation also intends to better report realities on the ground in order to fuel its advocacy and public-private dialogue work.
