Paul Bérenger is not resigning from his post as Deputy Prime Minister at this stage, although he clarifies that he is in favor of the MMM leaving the government.
“I noted that a very large majority of activists want the MMM to remain in government. I want to leave the government. The MMM Political Bureau will meet again this Monday. Until then, we will see how the situation evolves,” declared Paul Bérenger at the end of a special central committee of the MMM, held this afternoon at Hennessy Park, in Ébène.

“My position is clear and known: I do not want the MMM to leave the government and I will do everything in my power to ensure that this does not happen. But if, despite my efforts and my hopes, Paul resigns, then we will decide, within the MMM, what course to follow,” wrote Labor Minister Reza Uteem on his Facebook page.
