A dramatic road accident occurred in the Pamplemousses region on Monday afternoon. Mossary Janeshsing, a 46-year-old resident of Triolet, lost his life in a violent collision in Rivière-Citron.
The tragedy occurred at 3:13 p.m. on a section of road known for its curves. Mossary Janeshsing was riding a motorcycle when an impact of rare violence occurred with a car driven by a resident (41 years old) of Grand-Baie. When emergency services from the SAMU arrived, the motorcyclist was lying seriously injured on the road. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency doctors, the SAMU doctor could only note his death on the spot. The scene, which was particularly grueling, required the intervention of several elements of the Pamplemousses police in order to secure the scene and make initial findings.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the driver of the car was driving in the direction of Arsenal when, approaching a bend, the motorcycle suddenly deviated from its trajectory to turn to its right. In doing so, he hit the car which was traveling in his lane. The exact circumstances of the accident, however, remain to be precisely established by investigators.
Three teenage girls, aged 13, 15 and 19, who were in the car were slightly injured in the collision. Transported to the SSRN hospital, they received treatment before being allowed to return home. The driver was subjected to a breathalyzer test which came back negative.
The autopsy carried out in the evening at the morgue of the Dr Jeetoo hospital attributed the death of Mossary Janeshsing to a “shock due to laceration of the heart”. This new road drama once again revives the concerns surrounding safety on the roads. Despite the entry into force of the points license, the number of people killed in accidents rose to 61 compared to 55 at the same time last year.
