An operation by the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU), carried out on Thursday June 19, resulted in a significant seizure of narcotics, foreign currencies, large sums of cash as well as prohibited weapons in Plaine-Verte.
Acting on the basis of information, ADSU sleuths carried out a search in a house located in Dioree Street, Plaine-Verte, occupied by a 42-year-old company director, identified as Mr. M. Y. I. N., and his nephew, Mr. M. R. K., 20 years old, manager, according to information officially provided by the police.
During the search of the nephew's room, the police discovered a resealable plastic bag containing 0.7 grams of suspected cannabis, three pieces of paper bearing traces of cannabis resin, as well as a bag containing suspected traces of cocaine.
Investigators also seized three electronic devices containing a liquid suspected of being cannabis oil, as well as seven other devices bearing traces of the same liquid.
A large sum of money was also found in this room, namely Rs 2,043,625, as well as several foreign currencies: 10 euros, 1,000 South African rands, 390 yuan and 80 baht. The police suspect that this money would come from activities linked to drug trafficking.
The search then continued in the room of the forty-year-old. The police discovered a black electronic torch marked Police, capable of delivering an electric shock, as well as a working taser with three cartridges.
Two Federal Streamers and a CS spray were also seized.
In addition, the officers got their hands on Rs 824,850, 2,900 US dollars and 6,900 euros, amounts considered to be potentially linked to criminal activities.
The two suspects were arrested and placed in custody. The ADSU investigation continues to determine the exact origin of the drugs, the funds seized and the use of the weapons recovered.
