PNQ – Death of Jonathan Koo Yam Too: 21 people questioned, four people came forward

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam indicated this Tuesday in Parliament that the investigation into the shooting death of Jonathan Koo Yam Too, aged 40, is continuing actively. He also announced that a team of foreign investigators is now assisting the Mauritian police in this case. To date, 21 people have been questioned before being allowed to leave after their statements were recorded. Investigators also analyze video surveillance images from different sources.

On July 8, the police launched a call for witnesses and offered a reward of Rs 500,000 to anyone providing reliable information. Since this call, four people have come forward and three statements have already been recorded.

As a reminder, the facts date back to June 11, 2026. Alerted by the Police Main Command and Control Centre, police officers from Curepipe went to Midlands, where they discovered the body of the victim with a gunshot wound to the left side of the chest.

According to the Prime Minister, MCIT investigators continue daily interrogations of suspects in order to shed light on this matter, which remains under investigation.
