Private colleges — 75th anniversary of Eden College Boys: Launch of a souvenir magazine and a new website

Celebrating 75 years of history while affirming a vision resolutely focused on the future: Eden College Boys closed its 75th anniversary festivities at the Octave Wiehé Auditorium, in Réduction, with a ceremony placed under the sign of memory, recognition and modernization. The event, which took place in the presence of the President of the Republic, Dharam Gokhool, was marked by the launch of a souvenir magazine and a new website, testifying to the desire to the establishment to keep its educational heritage alive while being part of the digital transformation.

The Eden College Boys community turned out in force to mark the end of the celebrations. The event, both solemn and festive, crowned a year rich in commemorative activities. In recent months, several initiatives have marked the festivities, including a community meal organized on the occasion of the Maha Shivaratree, a blood donation campaign, recreational days (Fun Day) as well as a Talent Exhibition retracing the journey and achievements of the establishment.

Placed under the theme: A Legacy of Excellence, the ceremony also brought together several personalities from the educational and institutional sector, including the Chief Technical Officer of the Ministry of Education, Aukbar, the Deputy Registrar of the Open University of Mauritius, Ashwan Domah, former director of Eden College and former vice-president, Raouf Bundhun, Serge Ng Tat Chung, director of MES, as well as Harry Bauluck, president of MGI and former teacher of the establishment, alongside the Balgobin family, students, parents and all establishment staff.

The day began with the traditional awards ceremony, rewarding students who distinguished themselves both academically and extracurricularly. It continued with a rich and varied cultural program, during which the students were able to demonstrate their artistic and creative talents.

The highlight of the ceremony, the launch of a commemorative souvenir magazine as well as a new website, marked the establishment's desire to preserve its heritage while affirming its modernization. The magazine traces 75 years of history, evolution and achievements, while the digital platform aims to strengthen the visibility and openness of the establishment to the world.

In his speech, Dharam Gokhool, hailed the historic role of Eden College Boys in the Mauritian educational landscape, qualifying the establishment as an institution of social mobility, perseverance and Nation-Building. He made it clear that the school has played, for 75 years, a central role in the democratization of education in Mauritius.
