Mgr Jean-Michaël Durhône invites young people to discernment and listening: “Lend an ear to your heart”

On the occasion of the 63rd World Day of Prayer for Vocations, the Bishop of Port-Louis, Mgr Jean-Michael Durhône, kicked off the annual mobilization campaign in order to raise funds for the studies of seminarians who number nine. The diocese of Port-Louis devotes Rs 11.2 million annually to ensure the training of these young people in the seminaries of Nantes and Orléans, in France.

In the homily delivered during the mass celebrated in the church of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, the Bishop of Pirt-Louis launched a vibrant appeal to young people in particular in favor of discernment on the theme “Lend ear to your heart†. Using the metaphor of social networks, he addresses in particular young people who spend their lives listening to and following Facebook, Tik Tox that Christ can speak to them through these networks.

“Young person, you have great value. Stay connected to God to joyfully live the vocation of your baptism,” affirms Mgr Durhône. For him, the vocation is not limited to the priesthood, because priests, religious and lay people are called to bear witness and serve in Mauritian society.

The 44th vocations festival will take place on August 2 - at Thabor and Mgr Durhône will, at the same time, carry out the presbyteral ordination of deacon Jonathan Dolidon, a French religious, who will be ordained priest for the Society of Jesus, better known as the Jesuits. The ordination mass will take place on Sunday August 2 at Tabor.
