Ashwin Moosary, 45, had just rebuilt his life, driven by the love of his family. A violent accident shattered his destiny, leaving behind a devastated and inconsolable family.

The road hit cruelly again. Monday afternoon, Janeshsing Moosary, better known by the first name Ashwin, lost his life in a violent collision in Rivière-Citron. He leaves behind the image of a man with a big heart who had just rebuilt his life after a long fight against synthetic drugs. He becomes the 61st road victim since the start of 2026.

Before the accident, this resident of Triolet had gone to Rose-Belle to attend the funeral of a cousin. According to the poignant testimony of a relative, the forty-year-old had spent the day actively helping the family with funeral preparations. “It's very nice, I can help you all…”, he confides.

It was on the way back, while he was preparing to reunite with his family, that fate changed around 3:15 p.m. The accident occurred on the main road from Rivière-Citron, to Pamplemousses. Janeshsing Moosary was on his motorcycle when he collided with a car driven by a 41-year-old resident of Grand-Baie. The latter was traveling in the company of three teenage girls.

According to the version of the facts given by the driver to the police at the Pamplemousses station, she was heading towards Arsenal from the SSRN Nord hospital. She claims that Ashwin's motorcycle veered to the right before colliding head-on with her vehicle.

The impact was of rare violence. Called to the scene, the emergency service (SAMU) could only note the death of the motorcyclist. The driver of the car and her three passengers, slightly injured, were transported to SSRN hospital before returning home. The breathalyzer test carried out on the driver was negative.

The autopsy, carried out at the Dr Jeetoo Hospital morgue by the police forensic pathologist, attributed the cause of death to “shock due to laceration of the heart”.

Today, his family is completely devastated. Ashwin leaves behind an inconsolable wife and a little boy of only 3 years old who will never see his father again. His mother, for whom he was the pillar and support, is plunged into immense distress.

What makes this loss even more painful for those close to him is that Ashwin had come a long way. Some time ago, he courageously decided to take charge to escape the hell of synthetic drugs. He worked hard as a driver to provide a better future for his son, but the road abruptly ended his redemption. His funeral took place Tuesday afternoon.

A police investigation, carried out under the supervision of ASP Ghurburrun and CI Chellan, is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
