A serious accident involving a seaplane occurred this Tuesday afternoon off the coast of La Prairie, near La Passe Saint-Jacques.

According to initial information collected, the aircraft crashed around 3:55 p.m. outside the lagoon. Two people were on board: the pilot and a passenger.

The pilot, a 28-year-old Indian national, was rescued by staff from the company operating the aircraft before being transported to a private clinic, where he is currently receiving treatment for injuries whose severity has not yet been clarified.

The passenger, a 25-year-old Polish national, who was staying at the Ambre hotel, did not survive the accident. His body was recovered by emergency services and then taken care of by the police.

Elements of the National Coast Guard as well as the regular police went to the scene in order to secure the area and undertake the first observations.

The exact circumstances of this crash remain unknown at this stage. An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident.
