Two attacks targeting police officers were reported Monday evening in Pailles and Curepipe. One suspect has been arrested, while two others are actively sought.

In Pailles, police intervened around 8:50 p.m. after the Safe City system spotted three hooded men circulating in the Sorèze sector. During the check, two of them allegedly attacked the police with fists before fleeing.

One of the suspects, a 36-year-old mason living in Vallée-Pitot, was caught after a short chase. The police discovered a knife and a brass knuckle on him. He was arrested and detained.

The two injured police officers received treatment at Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital before returning home.

The second suspect involved in this attack was spotted shortly after using Safe City cameras, but he managed to flee into a wooded area. He is actively sought.

A few hours earlier, in Curepipe, a policewoman on duty in front of the police station was attacked by a 39-year-old man.

According to the first elements of the investigation, he pushed her to the ground before fleeing. The police officer received treatment at Victoria Hospital in Candos and was then allowed to return home.

The suspect, wanted in a case of domestic violence and known to the police for cases of theft, drug trafficking and assault, is also actively sought.
