Rs 655 million. This is the amount of VAT revenue collected by the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) from businesses since the lowering of the VAT registration threshold from Rs 6 million to Rs 3 million.

This measure is among those announced in the 2025-2026 Budget.

These figures were communicated by the Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, in response to a question from the majority MP, Raviraj Beechook, during the Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQT) in the National Assembly, this Tuesday.

The head of government specified that between October 1, 2025 and July 29, 2026, 8,764 companies registered for VAT, while 84 unregistered during the same period.
