Patrick Andrew Bogliatto, a British pilot, was authorized to leave Mauritian territory in order to resume his professional activity abroad. This decision was pronounced on June 1, 2026 by the Mapou court.
The conditions imposed by the Court are as follows: the pilot must provide a deposit of Rs 50,000 and post property as security. He will also have to appear in court again on September 7, 2026.
Arrested on January 8, 2026, he faces a provisional charge of kidnapping and indecent assault on a 17-year-old minor.
In her complaint, the teenager alleged that she had been kidnapped and the victim of touching. The facts allegedly occurred on January 7, 2026 at the pilot's home, in Bain-Boeuf, in the presence of the latter's wife.
In his request, the pilot requested authorization to travel to Nice, via Dubai, from June 2 to September 4, 2026, for professional reasons. The police were opposed to it, citing a risk of flight.
According to Sergeant Somaroo, assigned to the Grand-Baie police station, the police investigation was completed and the file sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for opinion. According to the police, the pilot has a profession that requires him to travel around the world, which would increase the risk of fleeing in order to escape a heavy sentence in the event of a guilty verdict.
For his part, Patrick Andrew Bogliatto explained that he is the sole financial support of his family and that he works as a captain for an air cargo company based in Azerbaijan.
According to him, his prolonged absence put his job in jeopardy. He also claimed to have been established in Mauritius since 2011 and to hold a permanent residence permit.
In his ruling, Magistrate Akshay Kumar Nundloll noted that no indication had been given as to when a formal charge could be filed. Preventing the pilot from resuming his professional activity for an indefinite period would, according to the magistrate, risk depriving him of his main source of income. Hence the decision to authorize him to travel.
