Zouberr Joomaye, who previously held the position of Special Adviser at the Prime Minister's Office under the former government of Pravind Jugnauth, made the trip again yesterday to the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). This interrogation session is part of the investigation linked to the Covid-19 Pack and Blister Scandal. His communications with representatives of the Ministry of Health were discussed in April 2020. After providing his explanations, he was allowed to leave at that point.
This approach follows a first interrogation session held on Monday, during which the purchase of Pack & Blister brand respirators was discussed. This equipment was acquired by the authorities at the time in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, for a sum amounting to Rs 77.9 million.
During his discussions with investigators, the former advisor provided details on the context surrounding this transaction, as well as on the choices made at the time of the facts. Zouberr Joomaye maintained that he only played a facilitating role in this matter and that it was not he who made the final decision to move forward with the purchase of these respirators deemed defective.
