F-35 flyovers, a big fireworks display and a concert by an American star, given in front of thousands of people, including the Belgian Prime Minister: one of the biggest events marking the 250th anniversary of the United States will be held in Brussels at the end of June, according to Donald Trump's ambassador to Belgium.
It will be the "biggest, best, most incredible, extraordinary, phenomenal and fantastic event - apart from those of the president in Washington", assures Ambassador Bill White, during an interview Friday with AFP.
Donald Trump has planned a host of actions to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, including the construction of a monumental arch project in the heart of the American capital.
In Brussels, the festivities are planned at the Cinquantenaire park, in the European district of the Belgian capital.
On June 28, thousands of people will gather in this enclosure - the ambassador expects "5,000" - including the Belgian Prime Minister, Bart De Wever, who will for the occasion "give a speech".
"We will have the head of NATO, Mark Rutte, who is a great friend of mine and we hope to receive Ursula von der Leyen, to represent the EU" as well as "Germans, French, Italians...", he declared.
The ambassador, who prides himself on knowing American President Donald Trump for "nearly 35 years", affirms that "high-level personalities" from the American administration were also invited.
According to him, the animation will be entrusted to an "extremely well-known" American star, a "man" who "has sold 800 million hits" -- whose name he refuses, for the moment, to give.
After a flyover of military planes, "F-35, F-16 and A-400", the diplomat promises a half-hour fireworks display as the highlight of the show in the park, secured for the occasion.
Asked by AFP, the entourage of the Belgian Prime Minister, the head of NATO and the president of the European Commission did not immediately confirm their presence at this event.
