A 37-year-old resident of Vallée-des-Prêtres claims to have been the victim of an ambush orchestrated via WhatsApp. In a complaint filed with the police on Wednesday evening, he explained that he had received a message from an unknown number early in the morning. A person presenting themselves as a woman would then have started a conversation with him.
During the afternoon, the two interlocutors reportedly agreed to meet in the Route Nicolay region, in Port-Louis. Arriving there, the thirty-year-old was invited to go to a room located on the first floor of a building.
It was then that he discovered that the person he was talking to was not a woman, but a man. According to his statement, six individuals then burst into the room before attacking him. Under threat, he was allegedly forced to transfer Rs 150,000 from his bank account to another account.
Injured during this attack, the complainant received treatment at Dr Jeetoo hospital. He claims to be able to identify his six attackers. An investigation has been opened to shed light on this matter.
