Importing a single cargo of heavy fuel oil can now cost up to Rs 2 billion if geopolitical tensions persist.
This was indicated by the Minister of Energy and Public Services, Patrick Assirvaden.
Faced with an increasingly heavy energy bill, the government wants to accelerate the transition to renewable energies.
The Household Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Scheme was launched at the Central Electricity Board (CEB), in Curepipe, this Saturday. This aid system aims to financially support 3,600 households in the installation of solar panels on the roof of their homes.
The Minister of Energy affirms that Mauritius now has a clear vision to diversify its energy mix and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
