Pension reform: Dev Sunnasy (Linion Moris) calls for a national consultation

Members of Linion Moris (LM) hosted a press conference yesterday at the Hennessy Park hotel in Ébène. Pension reform was on the agenda of Dev Sunnasy's speech - who argued that "this reform cannot be decided without a true national consultation". According to him, this reform will have repercussions on the entire the population. He believes “that it deserves the same treatment as the electoral and constitutional reforms, with a vast consultation exercise involving all the parties concerned”. He had at his side two other founding members of the party, namely Neena Ramdenee and Raouf Khodabaccus.

According to Dev Sunnasy, "the budget does not outline a sufficiently clear vision for the future of the country, the measures announced making it possible neither to transform the economy nor to meet the expectations of young people and retirees." He also estimated that "the absence of in-depth modernization of the public sector risks limiting the realization of the projects announced in the budget." While he welcomed the desire displayed by the government to increase exports, he however regretted the absence of details on the means which will be deployed to achieve this objective. “I appreciate that the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance has finally understood that this measure is essential in order to resolve many of our problems. However, I remain skeptical due to the lack of details on the implementation of this strategy,” he believes.

Dev Sunnasy has outlined what he considers to be "the great return of Linion Moris to the political scene." For him, “the party does not belong to any family or dynasty. Each Mauritian can progress according to their skills and commitment. There is no caste or self-proclaimed leader. A single value guides our action: meritocracy.”

During his new stage, presented to the press, Dev Sunnasy stressed that “Linion Moris is committed to designating his candidate for the post of Prime Minister by an open primary rather than by decision of a restricted circle. The party defends a simple principle: the values ​​that a party claims for the country. Democracy, good governance, competence must first be verified in the way it operates. The complete mechanism of this primary will be published as it is finalized.”
